Angie was born and raised in Idaho and
began learning drawing from her mother, who is also an artist.
With no "formal" training, Angie is a self-taught artist. She
works in colored pencil and oil on canvas and masonite.
Angie has a wide variety of subjects,
horses being her first love. She lived and sometimes worked on
various ranches around Idaho for several years, breaking and
training horses. Her husband, a retired US Fish & Wildlife
Service Agent, is instrumental in the accuracy of Angie's wildlife
art, making sure animal anatomy and habitat are correct. Also
a military veteran, her husband drew her into the realm of military
drama & aircraft. Aircraft have always been a part of
Angie's life, often attending air-shows with her family. From
spending 3 months on a wagon train as workers, to traveling to
Africa, to flying with the military, Angie tries to "experience" her
subjects first hand, "getting into it" makes for a much more
exciting painting/drawing. She and her husband are always
looking for their next adventure. They are amateur
photographers, taking most of the photographs that Angie uses in her
artwork.
Some of the shows Angie has been
invited to have been the Pacific Rim Show; Friends of the National
Zoo Show in Washington, D.C.; the Western Art Association Show in
Ellensburg, WA; the Western Heritage Artists Show in Great Falls, MT
; and many others. She has won many other first place and best
of show awards in local shows across the northwest, including:
Idaho Ducks Unlimited; finalist, Idaho Duck Stamp; finalist, Wyoming
Conservation Stamp; and Director's Choice Award, NW Territorial Art
Show. She has illustrated for Western Horseman magazine, Idaho
Fish & Game, US Fish & Wildlife Service, BLM, IRS, and Smith
& Wesson Engraving. She has been published in "The Best of
Colored Pencil", and had an article written about her in Equine
Images Magazine. |
